Day 20: Quiet-#SOL17

In a world full of noise, find the moments of quiet.

Quiet
Before the alarm
Quiet
Before the clanging of cereal bowls
Quiet
Before the grabbing of backpacks
Quiet
Before the radio music
Quiet
Before the good mornings and hellos
Quiet
Before the instruction
Quiet
Before the goodbyes and see you tomorrows
Quiet
Before the school day tell alls
Quiet
Before the slamming of car doors at practice
Quiet
Before the barking greetings
Quiet
Before the beep of the oven
Quiet
Before the reading of words
Quiet
Before the bedtime prayers
Quiet
Before the last TV show ends
Quiet
Before the last email is read
Quiet
Before the eyelids grow heavy
Quiet
Before the clock strikes midnight (or 11, 10, or 9)
Quiet
Before the light switches off
Quiet
Before the alarm
Quiet

  2. Another great way to spark creativity. There are so many more possibilities inside your list poem. These are my favorite lines
"Quiet / Before the reading of words / Quiet / Before the bedtime prayers
There is reverence to that evening ritual.

  3. This is just beautiful, Lauren.
With two kids (one of whom is almost six months old), I've come to savor those quiet moments. Not noiseless... just quiet. It is in those quiet moments that I see the love between my children and the reverence for what we hold most sacred and dear.

  4. Oh I love this! I love those quiet moments before the hustle and bustle of day overtakes me. I hate getting up early, but I secretly love when I wake before the alarm clock and just get to enjoy the quiet.

  6. I've begun to appreciate those quiet moments and soak them in. I love how you've expressed those very short moments of quiet before... each moment of life.
